Our Vision

Mother Ocean is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating, inspiring, and empowering ocean advocates worldwide. Founded on January 1, 2012, Mother Ocean seeks to create an oceanic movement that goes beyond the traditional confines of the coastal community, encompassing all of our planet’s waters. The ocean and its connecting waterways affect every single person on this planet. We, in turn, have an impact as individuals. It is our goal at Mother Ocean to shed light on these connections and inspire passion in others to protect our ocean, coastlines, waterways, and aquatic ecosystems.

Create.

Education and awareness are the first steps in creating new ocean advocates. We all need to know the facts, including the current issues our planet and society face, as well as the consequences of our daily habits and actions. We need to know why we should care, where we fall in the system, and how we can contribute. Through various tools including social media outlets, marketing campaigns, face-to-face interactions, events in the community, collaboration with other organizations, and projects such as Ocean Hour and Expedition Florida 500, Mother Ocean seeks to build bridges between individuals and the sea.

Inspire.

Passion leads to action and the desire to protect what we love and believe in. Mother Ocean believes in leading by example; whether we're embarking on expeditions that highlight the beauty of our waters or leveraging social media to inspire the masses to clean their local waterways, our team is pushing the boundaries to raise awareness and inspire change. Thanks to technology, our planet is much smaller with many opportunities to shine as individuals; we now have the tools to step up and change our world while continuing to live our daily lives. At Mother Ocean, we're utilizing these new tools to connect the dots between active ocean advocates and individuals around the world to inspire positive oceanic change.

Empower.

Inspiration is powerful, but we must find ways to help people act on that newfound enthusiasm. We're committed to providing opportunities for individuals to contribute, no matter how little time they have to give from their busy schedules. Through a wide variety of outlets including social media, events, demonstrations, and projects like Ocean Hour and Expedition Florida 500, we're engaging with the public and giving them ways to be a part of something much bigger. We’re also connecting aspiring ocean advocates with like minds so they can benefit from our network of shared resources and collaboration. By empowering the individual with tools and opportunities to give back, we'll multiply our efforts and successfully tackle environmental challenges together.
