Ocean HourWhat: An international weekly cleanup When: Saturdays from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Where: Your local beach, river, lake, or waterway Who: You, your friends, and your local community Ocean Hour is the world’s first international weekly cleanup, leveraging social media and technology to crowdsource cleanups around the globe on a weekly basis. Every Saturday from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., no matter where you are on this planet, the Mother Ocean community will head to local beaches, rivers, lakes, and waterways around the globe to clean up trash and debris. We realize you can't make it every Saturday, but with social media and our newfound ability to mobilize the masses, our impact is powerful even if only 10% of our fan base shows up on any given week. As our network continues to grow, our influence will thrive exponentially with substantial turnouts each week. Whether you can make it this week, next week, once a month, or once a year, we invite you to join us in this movement. Step up and pave the way for a group in your area. Make it a new tradition, invite friends, meet for breakfast or lunch afterwards, go for a surf or paddle, and take pictures of the trash you've collected. Then come home and share your stories and photos with us on the Ocean Hour Facebook page or your local chapter page so we can inspire others, keeping a digital scrapbook of all the trash we've collected from around the world. Ocean Hour gives you an immediate opportunity to participate in something special that's worldwide, and it builds a sense of community and pride. Social media is a fun and exciting way to connect and share our lives with others; let's leverage these new tools to make a positive impact on our planet and enjoy ourselves in the process. We also want to reach out to established cleanup organizations or events already making a difference in their local areas. Let's work together towards our common goals, regardless of when, where, and how often your event is held. Through collaboration, we can effectively cross-promote efforts and provide volunteers with more opportunities to contribute on a consistent basis. Your cleanup gains additional promotion, support, and volunteers through our network, and Ocean Hour benefits from your volunteers that want to contribute in between your local events. This is a simple and effective way to provide consistent opportunities for the general public to make a difference. Whether it's just you, a group of friends, or an entire organization, join us for Ocean Hour on Saturdays from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Every single one of us can make a difference; start the weekend off right and spend an hour giving back to the ocean. |
